After running one of the most loved and hated open-source image generation companies, Stability AI, Mostaque stepped down as the CEO in March 2024.
Mostaque is a British-Bangladeshi entrepreneur, mathematician, and former hedge fund manager. Born in Jordan, he spent his early childhood in Dhaka, Bangladesh, before moving to the UK at age of seven. Mostaque holds a degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Oxford.
Mostaque has been a vocal figure among AI ethicists. He had signed an open letter calling for a pause in training powerful AI systems, along with Elon Musk, and several other industry big-shots.
